From Spain, With Love: What This Trip Taught Us About Hospitality, Design & Connection

This summer, Dima and I stepped away from the day-to-day of hosting to take a long-overdue trip—a two-week journey across Spain to celebrate our 15-year anniversary ❤️🥂.

What we came back with was more than memories. We came back with vision, inspiration, and a deeper love for what it means to welcome people into a space that makes them feel something.

Here’s a little glimpse into the places we visited—and what each one gave us.

Barcelona: Where Design Speaks and Spirit Shines

La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona, Spain
La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona felt like a city made of movement and magic. And at the heart of it all?

La Sagrada Família. We stood there, breathless, inside Gaudí’s masterpiece—completely wrapped in light. The stained glass didn’t just color the air—it transformed it. Cool blues and warm reds spilled across stone pillars like watercolor in motion. And everywhere you looked: symbolism. Nature. Spirituality. A quiet kind of awe.

It wasn’t just architecture. It was a feeling.

And walking the streets of Barcelona? The entire city is alive with creativity. Murals. Mosaic benches. Details in doorframes. It’s as if design was meant to be felt just as much as seen.

We took notes. (Literally.) The textures. The layering. The balance of bold and calm. Our minds were spinning with ideas we can’t wait to translate into thoughtful details back in our Poconos home.

Valencia: Flavor, Fire & That “Gathered Around the Table” Feeling

In Valencia, something shifted. We slowed down. We made paella.

Real paella. Over an open fire, guided by locals, surrounded by laughter and wine and second-helpings of everything.

There’s something about learning a dish from someone who’s made it a hundred times before you—that humility, that generosity, that joy. We didn’t just cook. We connected.

And the drinks? Light, citrusy, perfect for the sun-soaked afternoons that stretch into golden hour.

It reminded us that hospitality is so much more than providing a space. It’s about creating an atmosphere. One where people feel welcome, full, and like time doesn’t matter anymore.

Ibiza: Energy, Escape & The Joy of Being Alive

Then came Ibiza. And yes—it was vibrant. Alive. Music thumped through beach clubs by day and cliffside lounges by night.

But beneath the rhythm was something surprisingly reflective.

One sunset, we stood hand in hand on a cliff overlooking the water, a soft house beat floating from the cove below. The sun dipped low, and for a second, it felt like we were 20 again—back in New York City, falling in love to the pulse of rooftop speakers and subway trains.

Ibiza gave us freedom. Joy. A little wildness. It reminded us not just of where we’ve been, but who we’ve been.

And we want to bring that feeling back, too—not the party, but the pulse. The spark. The playfulness of life well-lived.

What We’re Bringing Back

From the glow of Sagrada’s stained glass to the fire of paella and the pulse of Ibiza’s coastline—this trip gave us more than a break. It gave us clarity.

We’re coming back to our Poconos home with:

  • New textures and color palettes inspired by Gaudí’s layers and light

  • A deeper commitment to gathering spaces—places to cook, share, and be together

  • A sense of energy and intention we’ll infuse into every room

But more than that, we’re coming back with a renewed purpose:

It’s not just about offering a beautiful place to stay. It’s about creating space for transformation.

Just like this trip shifted something in us, we believe that a stay—done right—can do the same for our guests.

Whether it’s a romantic weekend that rekindles connection, a solo getaway that brings clarity, or a friend-filled escape that reminds you how to laugh again…We want your time in the Poconos to mean something.

That’s what hospitality is really about. Not just comfort. Not just aesthetics. But experiences that change you, even in small ways.

We’re so excited to keep building that. And we can’t wait to welcome you back.

With love,

Marina & Dima

Your Poconos Hosts
